If you envision a mountain bike designed for riding all day, sprinting up hills, and charging down technical, root and rock filled trails, what would you picture? Something sharp, light, and fast looking, with roughly 120mm of rear travel? Something with slender, agile looking features, not too many pivots weighing it down?
The Element is just that; a lithe speed-machine that was created by the gravity-oriented folks at Rocky Mountain bikes. Their aim was to take a cross-country platform and tweak it to be confident and comfortable in riding conditions not normally thought of as XC. And by implementing Rocky Mountain’s RIDE-4 geo-adjustment chip, you can dial in how you want your bike to feel through up to 1 degree of head-tube angle change.
Rocky has further refined the Element to specific users by making size-specific wheel choices, running 27.5″ wheels on the extra small models, and 29″ wheels on the small through extra large versions of the frame. Other details like the capacity to run two water bottles in the expansive front triangle, a UDH hanger for easy hanger replacements (or SRAM Transmission compatibility), and methodologically designed chainstay protection for a quiet ride result in a downcountry bike (we’ll say it!) that fulfills almost any trail-riding needs you could put on it.
